JUST IN: RARELY SEEN IN AUSTRALIA.
A stunning handcrafted JIM TRIGGS 16 also knows as a Sweet 16.
If your looking for a high end guitar that's both handcrafted and built by a master craftsman, you cant go past this unique archtop.
For those of you who are not familier with Jim Triggs, he was tasked with bringing back Gibsons high end archtop guitar and mandolins by the custom shop starting early 80's, where he remained for around 10 years.
With his success at Gibson, Jim started his own business building high end guitars and is still today in great demand.
I spoke to Jim and this beautiful archtop guitar we have for sale he said, to replace this today would be around $15,000+ AUD delived in Australia.
Now about this guitar, it's dated and signed by both Jim and his son Ryan to 25th march 2011 and built from the finest timbers.
The sides are highly flamed maple (sides) and back is quilted maple and just looks stunning.
The top is hand carved adirondack spruce ( extremely rare nowadays in these sizes) and features two multi bound 'F' holes.
The whole guitar has black and white binding (multiple layers) and then tortoise shell style binding over that, giving it a redish colour appearance, see pics for more detail.
This binding style is featured over the whole guitar including the pickguard...wow I must say.
The neck is highly flamed maple and one piece with an ebony fretboard, multi bound of course and cloud style mop inlays reminiscent of vintage epiphones.
Heastock has the Jim Triggs logo, highly polished and has Grover Imperial tuners.
The pickup is a Kent Armstrong PAF style and has a tone and volume control on the pickguard.
Originally it did have a coil splitter switch but was removed and now it's in the case.
You can see an Australian badge featuring a koala bear where the switch was.
Tailpiece again is in the style of the vintage Stromberg guitars which Jim is a fan off.
Whether your into gypsy jazz or jazz fusion or you just love guitars, this is one you should add to your collection.
And yes, it sounds as good as it looks.
Should you have any questions feel free to call or email me and I look forward to chatting about this unique guitar.
Comes with it's original SKB hard case.
